Bauman Named as Men’s Basketball Associate Head Coach

Bauman

BaumanBeaver Falls, PA – Alan Bauman has been named as the new Associate Head Coach for the Men’s Basketball team. Bauman joined the coaching staff for the men’s basketball program in 2014 as an assistant coach.

Bauman first stepped on Geneva’s court as a Golden Tornado himself from 1999-2002. During his time at Geneva the GTs wrote themselves in the record book with an overall record of 21-13. Bauman then transferred to Penn State New Kensington campus where he graduated with a communications major in 2004.

“Alan has proven himself to be a valuable asset to our men's basketball program. As a former Geneva basketball player himself, Alan has a great feel for the tradition and standards that have been set for our program. He is a tenacious worker and has earned the opportunity to increase his role and responsibilities on Coach Santarsiero's staff,” said Van Zanic, Athletic Director.

Bauman brings great depth and knowledge of the game with 11 years of coaching experience along with his own successful career on the hardwood.

In 2005, Bauman started teaching Physical Education and Health at Sewickley Academy until 2014. While teaching, Bauman was an assistant coach of the academy’s men’s basketball team. During his coaching stretch, the Panthers went on to win a State Championship and two Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Championships.

Head Coach Jeff Santarsiaro commented, “Alan has made an impact on the program since he volunteered two and half years ago.  Playing for Geneva he understands and takes pride in representing the ‘Birthplace of College Basketball’.  He is an excellent recruiter and his knowledge and passion for the game is exceptional.  We are very proud to have Alan at Geneva and it is certainly great for our program to have Alan in this new role.”

The Golden Tornadoes are set to start their 2016-17 season on November 15, 2016 playing against Carnegie Mellon University.
