Beaver Falls, PA – Sophomore Trewon Marshall (Leetsdale, PA/Quaker Valley) led Geneva’s offense with 175 yards from 13 carries breaching the Thiel Tomcats end zone three times. Freshmen Kahlil Caracter (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) showcased two touchdowns posting 60 yards rushing in three carries. The 35-27 win raises Geneva’s overall record to 2-2, 1-1 in the Presidents Athletic Conference.

Marshall didn’t waste any time performing for the packed homecoming stands. Marshall broke free for a 70 yard touchdown rush in the second play of the game (14:33).

Sophomore quarterback Javid Ellis (Port St Lucie, FL/Saint Lucie West Centennial) was forced to the sidelines due to an injury early during the Golden Tornadoes second drive of the afternoon. With senior quarterback Devin Kelosky (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside) still recovering from an injury obtained last weekend, junior running back Bryan Stafford (Sharpsville, PA/Sharpsville) took over the QB responsibilities until Ellis was able to later in the third quarter.

“When you play without your first two quarterbacks it is a challenge,” said head coach Geno DeMarco. “It was a tremendous weekend; our guys stepped up. It was a good win. We are happy,” he continued, “We have to keep getting better.”

Senior linebackers Jimmy Quinlan (Brookfield, OH/Brookfield) and Jose Pinero (Lakeland, FL/George Jenkins) racked up eight tackles, a sack, and a TFL in the defensive efforts.

In the air, Jared Hogue (Freedom, PA/Freedom) broke up two passes and added an interception for an eight yard return.

The Reeves Field victory brings an end to an extended weekend as Geneva’s 20th president was inaugurated; Geneva football’s Dr. Calvin L. Troup, class of 1983.

Next weekend the Golden Tornadoes will enjoy a bye week. They will return to action at Waynesburg on Saturday, October 8 with kick off at 1:30 p.m.

Geneva returns to home turf on Saturday, October 15 at 7 p.m. hosting Carnegie Mellon.
