Volleyball Pulls Away In Conference Win; Defeats Grove City 3-0

Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva Volleyball pulled away from Grove City after a 30-28 first set and never looked back. Geneva defeated the Wolverines 30-28, 25-22, 25-10. The sweep raises Geneva’s overall record 3-5, 2-1 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

“In orchestrating a strong comeback in set one, setting the tone for the rest of the match, we showed that Geneva volleyball has fight,” said head coach Wendy Smith.

Olivia Test (Negley, OH/Heartland Christian) who had 11 kills was joined by Sydney McNulty (State College, PA/State College Area) who also with double digit kills at ten.

 Alaina Lytle (Warren, OH/Lakeview) racked up 23 assists with help from Bailey McDonald (Amity, PA/Bishop Canevin) with 15.

“We had strong serving by McKayla King who led the way,” said Smith.

McKayla King (Uniontown, OH/Lake) showcased four serve aces.

Three Golden Tornadoes tallied double digit digs; Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) 18, McDonald 15, and Lytle with 13.

As a team, Geneva earned six team blocks protecting the net.

On Friday, September 16 the Golden Tornadoes will take on Frostburg State at 7 p.m. to start their four game, two day tournament at Susquehanna.
