Latrobe, PA – Coach Mandee Craft and the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes snapped a 12-year losing streak to the Saint Vincent Bearcats in a 5-4 decision. The upset raises Geneva’s overall record to 4-1, 1-1 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

“Today was really a fantastic match for us,” said head coach Mandee Craft. “Everything clicked. Our doubles teams got off to a much better start than we did on Saturday, which proved to be the difference. Even the positions we lost, we fought hard and were competitive. I couldn’t ask for a better day on the courts.”

Junior Sara Stoll (Norwalk, OH/Norwalk) and freshmen Grace Moyer (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) defeated Bearcats second doubles 8-3. Meanwhile, sisters Megan Shultz (Montrose, PA/Montrose) and Victoria Hinds (Montrose, PA/Montrose) won their third doubles match 9-7.

Geneva’s third, fourth and fifth singles sealed the historic win for the Golden Tornadoes.

Stoll won 7-6, 7-5 in third singles, Moyer rolled over Saint Vincent in fourth singles 6-0, 6-2 while Shultz battled in fifth singles with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 final.
