8-1 Win at La Roche Hands Geneva Women’s Tennis 2-0 Record

Pittsburgh, PA – The Geneva women’s tennis program is now 2-0 after defeating La Roche College 8-1 on Saturday, September 3.

“Today was another solid win for us,” commented head coach Mandee Craft. “La Roche always has a lot of depth and experience on its’ roster so we did well to come out on top.”

All three sets of Geneva’s doubles earned wins for the Golden Tornadoes.

In first doubles/first singles Rachael Letterman (Moon Township, PA/Moon) went 8-1/6-0, 6-1. Her first doubles partner, Katherine Deitrick (Beaver, PA/Beaver) earned a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win against her second singles opponent.

Sara Stoll (Norwalk, OH/Norwalk) and Grace Moyer (Virginia Beach, VA/Landstown) won their second doubles match, 8-3. Stoll went 6-1, 6-2 in third singles, Moyer earned a 6-0, 6-1 win in fourth singles.

Megan Shultz (Montrose, PA/Montrose) and younger sister Victoria Hinds’ 8-2 final in third doubles sealed the doubles play sweep. Shultz went on to defeat fifth singles opponent 6-3, 6-2.

The Golden Tornadoes resume play on Friday, September 9 at 4:30 p.m. as they face Marietta on the road.
