Geneva Football Outplays Wolverine Rivals 21-14

Beaver Falls, PA –Geneva extended its home turf win streak against the Wolverines on Saturday, October 29 posting a 21-14 win. The Golden Tornadoes haven’t allowed Grove City to win in Beaver Falls since 1979. The rivalry victory raises Geneva’s record to 3-5 overall, 2-4 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Trewon Marshall’s (Leetsdale, PA/Quaker Valley) 12-yard rush touchdown opened scoring with 2:06 left in the first quarter. Neil Harrison’s (Canonsburg, PA/Peters Twp.) good extra point handed Geneva a 7-0 lead over the Wolverines.

Bryan Stafford (Sharpsville, PA/Sharpsville) kept Geneva’s edge over the visitors in the third quarter with a two-yard touchdown run after Kahlil Caracter’s (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) 66-yard rush (14-7).

Grove City equalized the game for a second time in the fourth quarter at 14-14 with 3:39 remaining. Geneva responded with an 83 yard, three-play drive featuring Nick Monteleone (East Palestine, OH/East Palestine/Youngstown State) 66-yard run completed by Marshall with a 13-yard touchdown rush.

As a whole, the Golden Tornado offense generated 345 yards surpassing their previous 231 yard average.

Three Golden Tornadoes recorded double-digit tackles at ten apiece; Tim Martin (Moon Township, PA/Moon), Jonny Fiscus (Freedom, PA/Freedom) and Jimmy Quinlan (Brookfield, OH/Brookfield). Martin also tallied two pass breakups. Zach Kadlecik (Corapolis, PA/West Allegheny), Joe Shively (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) and Zach Hall (Irwin, PA/Norwin) each earned interceptions in the defensive display.

On Saturday, November 5 Geneva travels to Washington & Jefferson College, facing the Presidents at 1 p.m.
