Geneva Men’s Soccer First Program in School History to Finish Regular Season Undefeated

undefeatedLatrobe, PA – The 2016 Geneva men’s soccer program became the first team in school history to finish the regular season undefeated in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC). The Golden Tornadoes closed out the season tallying a 3-1 win over the Saint Vincent Bearcats. Posting an overall record of 14-3-1, 8-0 in the PAC, Geneva racked up 19 goals against conference competition while allowing only two goals. As the top finisher in the conference, Geneva will host the Bethany Bison on Tuesday, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. for the PAC Championship semi-final round.

Saturday (Oct. 29) afternoon at Saint Vincent College, Liam O’Halloran (Elyria, OH/Elyria Catholic) scored in the 24th minute assisted by Abel Carleton (Darlington, PA/Beaver County Christian School). Before the half, the Bearcats breached Geneva’s defensive line, tying the game 1-1.

Carleton retook the lead for the Golden Tornadoes 2-1 in the first two minutes of the half, assist by Jo Ozaki (Copley, OH/Copley). Gib McCracken (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver County Christian School) ensured the win capitalizing on an awarded free kick in the 63rd minute.

Luke Nolan (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) earned two saves recording 50 saves in the regular season.
