Oberlin, OH- The Geneva College men’s cross country team competed in the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble on Saturday, October 15. While running a third place finish among fellow Presidents’ Athletic Conference opponents, the team overall finished 21 of 32 teams.

“Our top four runners placed higher than they did last year, and as a result, we placed three places higher as a team than last year putting us only one point away from being in the top 20,” commented head coach Brian Yowler.  “Our top four guys were separated by only 45 seconds so we are very excited about where that pack of guys can place at the PAC meet.”

Sophomore runner Josh Duffie (Canton, OH/Glenoak) was the first Geneva runner to cross the finish line with the time of 26:15 (8K). Clay Smith (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) was the second Geneva runner across with a time of 26:48.

Freshmen Brandon Racine (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) posted a stand-out performance with a time of 26:51. This finish ties him with Josh Falk as the 12th fastest cross-country runner in Geneva College Cross Country (GCXC) history. It also makes him the second fastest GCXC freshman of all-time.

“As a team, we finished behind the top two teams in the PAC from last year, Saint Vincent and W&J,” said Yowler. “This is encouraging but also reminds us of the work that we need to do in two weeks at the PAC meet.”

The Golden Tornadoes will head to the PAC Championship meet on Saturday, October 29 at Saint Vincent College.
