Beaver Falls, PA – Geneva football hasn’t beaten the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in Washington, PA since 1973. In fact, no opponent, conference or non-conference alike, has been able to hand the W&J Presidents a loss at home in the last four years; sealing a perfect home record for the senior class. Today was no different as the W&J Presidents shutdown the Golden Tornadoes efforts 17-7. Geneva moves to an overall record of 3-6, 2-5 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC), W&J moves to a 7-2, 5-2 PAC record.

W&J didn’t waste any time breaching Geneva’s endzone with a touchdown in the first drive of the game. The nine play, 82-yard drive and good extra kick jump started the Presidents 7-0 in the first three minutes of the game. A good field goal raised W&J 10-0 with 12:49 left in the second quarter.

Bryan Stafford (Sharpsville, PA/Sharpsville) continued his work in the QB position for the GTs tallying Geneva’s lone touchdown with a four-yard rush off a nine-play, 58-yard drive with 7:13 in the second quarter (10-7).

Trewon Marshall (Leetsdale, PA/Quaker Valley) led Geneva’s offensive yards with 21 carries, 116 yards with a long 22-yard play.

Geneva offense was held to 192 yards, 148 rushing yards by the Presidents.

Defensively, Zach Hall (Irwin, PA/Norwin) recorded nine tackles supported by team tackle leader Jimmy Quinlan (Brookfield, OH/Brookfield) with eight. Jonny Fiscus (Freedom, PA/Freedom) posted an outstanding performance with six tackles, seven yards in tackles for loss (TFL), a five-yard sack and a pass breakup.

Geneva will close out the 2016 season at home hosting all-time rival Westminster at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 12. Before the game, Geneva will honor its senior class of 18 Golden Tornadoes.
