Beaver Falls, PA – Despite giving up most of their ten point lead late in the second half, the Geneva College men’s basketball team was able to hold on to defeat visiting Hiram College 90-87 after forcing a turnover at the end of regulation. The home win moves Geneva College to 3-2 overall before heading in President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) games.

“We play a tough non-conference schedule for a reason,” noted head coach Jeff Santarsiero. “Hiram is the most athletic team we have played all year and I’m really proud of our guys. We did what we needed to do to win the game.”

Jimmy Leichliter was Geneva’s leading scorer with 24 points followed by David Oliver with 14, Chaese Vaudrin with 12, and Tyler Crenshaw with 11.

“I thought Chaese played a solid game and Jimmy lead us with a couple threes. It was a great team win.”

The Geneva bench had big numbers on the night as Ethan Moose and Matt Dragon both were able to convert eight points. Nick Rusyn also had a big night off the bench with his team leading seven rebounds, five of them being offensive rebounds. Four of his five points came from his offensive rebounds.

“The bench came through tonight. They have been working hard and playing as a team and that showed tonight.”

The Golden Tornadoes will look to continue their win streak as they travel to Washington & Jefferson College on Wednesday, November 30 at 8 p.m. following the women’s game.
