Lancaster, PA The Geneva College Golden Tornadoes (16-3-1) made program history playing in the program’s first NCAA National Tournament on Friday, November 11. Geneva traveled 270 miles to the other side of the state to face the nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall Diplomats (12-3-4) in F&M seventh tournament appearance.

F&M edged Geneva in a 1-0 final decision. Geneva proudly recorded a 16-4-1 overall record to end the 2016-17 season.

The 2016-17 Golden Tornadoes made their mark in the school’s record books highlighting the second highest team victories (16) while shattering the previous longest winning streak (8) from 2010 with 14 consecutive victories.

Sophomore goalkeeper Luke Nolan had a stellar performance posting seven saves Friday night. Nolan will go down in the history books allowing the fewest season goals (14) after 21 games. In addition, he has earned the third most season shutouts (7).

“We played a very good F&M team tonight,” said head coach Gary Dunda. “They are well coached and play an attractive style of soccer.”

He continued, “I am extremely proud of my guys for the effort and fight they game for 90 minutes. We did not get the results we wanted but that does not change what an incredible season we had. I could not be any prouder of my guys.”
