PAC Champions Showcase 7 All-Conference Members; Head Coach Gary Dunda Named Coach of the Year

Beaver Falls, PA – Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Champions, Geneva College (16-3-1), showcased seven members on the PAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference teams list; Abel Carleton, Gibson McCracken, Luke Nolan, Jonathan Shoaf, Brandon Crider, Liam O’Halloran, Josh Brenize.  In addition to the impressive number of honors, seventh season head coach Gary Dunda was named PAC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year.

“It is a great accomplishment for our program to have seven well deserving student-athletes earn All-PAC honors. It represents all the time and dedication all of our guys have given,” said Dunda.

“I am honored to be named the PAC coach of the year but many people have had a hand in our success. My three assistant coaches, Mike Bair, Caleb Musselman and Jeb Nash, have been unbelievable all season but the most credit goes to all the players in our soccer family.”

Junior forward Abel Carleton, junior defender Gibson McCracken,  sophomore goalkeeper Luke Nolan and senior midfielder Jonathan Shoaf each received highest honors as first-team all-conference.

Carleton (Darlington, PA/Beaver County Christian School) led the Golden Tornado offense with an outstanding 14 goals, three assists including four game winning goals and a .638% shot on goal percentage.

From the back line, McCracken (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver County Christian School) netted nine goals, five game winning, assisting in one while earning a .538 shot on goal percentage. McCracken earned a perfect 5-5 penalty kick performance, converting every PK into a Geneva goal.

Leading the defense, Nolan (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) posted seven shutouts and allowed only 13 goals pass him in 16 games. After facing 143 shots, recording a 13-2-1 goalkeeping record, he finished his second season as a Golden Tornado with a tremendous 56 saves.

Jonathan Shoaf (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Christian) controlled the midfield for the Golden Tornadoes while tallying three goals, four assists. His overtime game winner against the Thomas More Saints allowed Geneva to finish with a stainless 8-0 record in the PAC.

Senior forward Brandon Crider (Marion, PA/Shalom Christian Academy) and sophomore forward Liam O’Halloran (Elyria, OH/Elyria Catholic) were tabbed second-team members each with fantastic performances. Crider impacted the offense with two goals and three assists. O’Halloran earned seven goals, three assists, shooting a terrific .615 on goal percentage.

Junior forward/defender Josh Brenize (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) was selected as all-conference honorable mention for his two goal, five assist season performance.

The Geneva men’s soccer 2016-17 season has yet to come to a close as the 14-game hot-streak Golden Tornadoes face Franklin & Marshall on Friday, November 12 at 5 p.m. in the NCAA National Tournament.
