Center Valley, PA On Saturday (Nov. 12) the Geneva College men’s cross country team traveled to Desales University to compete in the NCAA DIII Mideast Region Cross Country Championships. The team finished 29th overall with an average time of 25:26.

“We had some really good individual performances today,” said head coach Brian Yowler.  “Although this course was more challenging, Clay Smith and Mike Shaw were within one second of their season best times and Levi Ebersole ran a season best time to be a solid number five runner for us today.”

The spread from the first Golden Tornado runner to finish to the last was two minutes and seventeen seconds.

President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) first-team runner Josh Duffie (Canton, OH/Glenoak) crossed the finish line first with a time of 26:47 as the 88th overall finisher in the meet. Junior Clay Smith (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) was only two seconds behind Duffie finishing with a time of 26:49 as the 91st overall runner.

Freshman Brandon Racine (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) was the first underclassman finisher for Geneva as he finished with a time of 28:04.

Levi Ebersole (Mifflinburg, PA/Mifflinburg) earned an impressive 29:04 to close his sophomore campaign.

“There are over 70 NCAA Division III schools in the Mideast Region so to finish in the top half is solid. However, we are certainly not satisfied to stay there. We return all of our top six guys next year so we are setting some big goals for 2017.”
