Geneva Men’s Track and Field Teams Open Indoor Season at YSU

Youngstown, OH – Friday, December 2 the Geneva College men’s track and field team traveled to Youngstown State University for the YSU Icebreaker to open its 2016-17 indoor season. This meet hosted a wide range of schools from National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) division one schools such as YSU to division two and three schools as Slippery Rock University and Grove City College.

“This was a great first meet for the guys,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “We had some great performance at YSU.”

Junior Aaron Tedys finished third in the 400 meter running in 49.51, and he placed sixth in the 200 meter with a time of 22.37.

“Aaron had a great meet placing third in the open 400 meter and sixth in the open 200 meter. He was the first division three athlete to cross the line.”

For the field events, junior Colt Trammel placed eighth in the shot put event throwing 13.02 meters.

“Colt also had a strong performance to start the season finishing 8th in the shot. I'm very happy with the team. We have big goals and this was a great start.”

The Geneva track and field teams will enjoy their winter break before returning to the competitive field at Youngstown State University on January 20, 2017 for the YSU College Invitational.
