Youngstown, OH – Friday, December 2 the Geneva College Women’s Track and Field team traveled to Youngstown State University for the YSU Icebreaker to open their 2016-17 indoor season. This meet hosted a wide range of schools from National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) division one schools such as YSU to division two and three schools as Slippery Rock University and Grove City College.

“The women had a great first meet,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “We had some big performances on the track and in the field and Nicole (Bartoletta) ran great today.”

Junior hurdler Nicole Bartoletta finished fourth overall in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.09 seconds to set a new indoor school record that she had set last indoor season.

“To break a school record in the first meet is incredible. Nicole is going to have a big year. I'm very happy with the team. We have big goals and this was a great start,” said Thompson.

The Geneva track and field teams will enjoy their winter break before returning to the competitive field at Youngstown State University on January 20, 2017 for the YSU College Invitational.
