Geneva Women lose hard fought game 88-82 against Bethany College

Beaver Falls, PA- The Geneva College women’s basketball team fell in a close game against Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Bethany College 88-82, leaving them with a 2-5 overall record, 0-2 in the conference.

The Golden Tornadoes started off sluggishly in the first quarter but were able to gain momentum during the second, but trailed 46-43 heading into halftime. In the third quarter, Geneva played extremely well and was able to gain the lead for the first time in the game at 55-54 but it was short lived as Bethany came back strong in the final quarter and outscored Geneva 30-19 to secure the 88-82 final.

Senior Miranda Heaney (New Castle, PA/Union) led Geneva in scoring with an impressive 23 points, including 18 in the first stanza. She knocked down six of her first seven treys and fibished seven for ten from behind the arc. Callie Ford (New Middletown, OH/Springfield Local) and Jodie Carlson (Warsaw, IN/Warsaw) also contributed with Ford scoring 19 points, going 5-5 from the free throw line and Carlson scoring 17.

The Golden Tornadoes are home again next Saturday to face Thiel College at 3 p.m.
