Geneva Returns to the Win Column with 74-66 Road Win

Bethany, WV – The Golden Tornadoes return to the win column with a win on the road to upset the third seed Bethany College 74-66 on Wednesday, January 25. The win moves the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 9-9, with their Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) record moving to 6-5.

Despite the three early lead changes in the first half, the Golden Tornadoes were able to put up strong offensive points with four different starters scoring in the double digits. Geneva outshot the Bison hitting 48.2 percent from the field compared to Bethany’s 34.8 percent.

Geneva continues to impress with their foul line shooting as they were able to convert 71.4 percent of their free throws.

Freshman PAC Rookie of the Week Ethan Moose (New Castle, PA/Neshannock) was 8-12 in shooting for the night to combine for his 20 points to lead the scoring efforts. Sophomore David Oliver (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) also hit in the double digits scoring 10 points on the night.

Junior Jimmy Leichliter (Connellsville, PA/ Connellsville) scored an impressive 19 points while also pulling down ten rebounds.

Senior Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake) was an all-around team player for the men being the last GT to score in the double-digit range for his 12 points also hitting 10 assists for his season high.

The Golden Tornadoes will host conference opponent Saint Vincent on Saturday, January 28 at 6 p.m.

Geneva returns to a very exciting day at home. Head Coach Lori Wynn is scheduled to return to College Hill for a visit, returning to the sidelines for the first time in the 2016-17 season. After being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in July, the sixth year head coach has become an inspiration for her team, the college and her community as she has successfully been battling cancer in North Carolina.

The PAC has united as a conference to support Wynn and all fighting cancer in an initiative to sell Wynn The Battle t-shirts conference-wide the week of January 28 through February 4. T-shirts will be on sale at Geneva on Saturday, January 28 for $5 as the Golden Tornadoes welcome back Wynn.
