Beaver Falls, PA – If anyone had reservations about Ethan Moose (New Castle, PA/Neshannock) as a rookie he shattered all doubts against Chatham on Wednesday, January 11. The freshman guard recorded career-high 27 points against the Cougars. But the dynamic performance fell short against Chatham’s Alex Schoppen’s 37 points going 11-12 from outside the circle. Schoppen and the Cougars defeated Geneva 84-67 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) competition. The loss moves Geneva’s overall record to 6-8, 3-4 in the PAC as the Chatham rises to a 7-7 overall record, 3-4 in the PAC.

Jimmy Leichliter’s (Connellsville, PA/Connellsville) good basket gave Geneva the early 8-6 lead before Chatham’s Schoppen opened his hot hand day. The Cougars outscored Geneva 16-2 hitting a 75% in three-point shooting before halftime.

Down 45-32 at the half, Ethan Moose exploded from all areas of the court posting 27 points for the game and going 2-3 in three-pointers, 11-17 overall on the field and 3-3 at the line.

David Oliver (Sewickley, PA/Quarker Valley) and Matt Dragan (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) also posted double figure points with 10 a piece. In addition, Oliver led the team’s rebounds with nine.

On Saturday, January 14 the Golden Tornadoes return to the road at Waynesburg with tip-off at 3:30 p.m.
