(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College announced today that it has received CACREP accreditation extensions for three Masters in Counseling programs: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling; and School Counseling.

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) bestowed all three Geneva Counseling programs with accreditation for eight years, to March 2024, the longest duration for which a program can be accredited.

In the accreditation notice letter, CACREP President and CEO Carol L. Bobby, Ph.D., writes, “Programs receiving accreditation for an eight-year period deserve to be commended for the work completed throughout the accreditation process. This is indeed a worthy achievement.”

Courses in these graduate programs are offered online and at Geneva’s main campus in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. All on-ground and online courses are taught by Geneva College professors.

Shannan Shiderly, PhD.Shannan Shiderly, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Director of the Geneva M.A. in Counseling Program, says, “We are so pleased that our M.A. in Counseling programs have received this CACREP accreditation extension for the maximum length of time available. It is a testament to the quality of our Counseling programs and to the fine work accomplished by so many people involved in this process.”

Dr. Shiderly invites anyone interested in earning a Geneva M.A. in Counseling degree to attend one of three information sessions where they can meet counseling faculty, the enrollment manager, current counseling students and counseling alumni.
