Beaver Falls, Pa. – Geneva College’s women’s indoor 60 meter hurdler, junior Nicole Bartoletta (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship in Naperville, Illinois on Friday, March 10. Bartoletta’s time of 8.97 seconds placed her as Division III’s ninth fastest indoor women’s 60 meter hurdler in the nation. The fierce completion between the nation’s elite hurdles left Bartoletta’s time .02 seconds away from the final heat.

“Nicole has had a great season so far,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “She has run some really fast times and won a lot of races. I am very proud of everything that she has done so far and I know there is much more to come. She works hard every day at the track and in the weight room; that’s why she’s been so successful.

“Finishing ninth in the NCAA National Meet is a huge accomplishment. This was her first experience at the national level and she competed great. I know that she is hungry for more and wants to be All-American when outdoor season gets underway,” continued Thompson. “I’m just very proud of her. To make the national meet is such a hard task to accomplish because they only take the top 17 student-athletes in the country. Nicole had such a great indoor season and to end the season at the NCCA Meet is just fantastic.

"I’m very excited to see what she will accomplish during the outdoor season.”

Bartoletta and the rest of the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes turn their attention to the 2017 outdoor track & field season. Geneva’s season is filled with seven outdoor meets before the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship over the weekend of April 28. The year, Geneva College will host the PAC Outdoor Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Championships in Beaver Falls, Pa at the Merriman Athletic Complex.
