Grove City, Pa. – Geneva College baseball finished its suspended game at 1 p.m. today (March 25) against Grove City. After 10 innings of play on Friday, March 24 in Beaver Falls, the 8-8 game was suspended due to darkness. Grove City stole the win for a 9-8 final after 11 innings of play. Following the closing of the single nine inning game, the rivals continued the day with their regular scheduled seven inning doubleheader. Grove City stayed hot, handing the Golden Tornadoes a 13-0 loss. Geneva was able to generate a few runs but fell short in game three of the series, 7-2. Grove City’s series sweep over Geneva lowers the Golden Tornadoes’ overall record to 6-11, 0-3 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

In game one of the doubleheader, Grove City only gave up two hits to the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva’s pair came to the bats of Tyler Pagaduan (Voorhess, NJ/Eastern Regional) and Joey Luciana (Oakmont, PA/St. Joseph). Branden Schlick (Harmony, PA/Seneca Valley) was forced to take the loss after 3.1 innings of work.

Geneva only runs of the day came in game two of the doubleheader, top of the third. The rally started with Forrest Beighley’s (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) double. Beighley advanced to third base off Pagaduan’s ground out. Luciana brought Beighley home in fashion recording his first home run of the season.

Led by Beighley going 3-4, Geneva outhit Grove City 10-9 but would be unable to generate any more runs. After 5.2 innings on the mound, Jeff Parker (Green Brook, NJ/Timothy Christian) took the loss.

The Golden Tornadoes will move forward into next week. Geneva is set to host the Thiel College Tomcats on Tuesday, March 25 at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader PAC contest.
