Beaver Falls, Pa. – Geneva College Softball swept Franciscan University on Thursday, March 23. The pair of wins raised Geneva’s overall record to 10-6 overall. After going 5-5 at bat on Tuesday, Haley Sainato (New Castle, PA/Mohawk) broke the program’s consecutive hit record with nine.

Sainato reset Geneva’s consecutive hit school record with nine straight. On Tuesday, she posted a 5-5 at-bat streak during Geneva’s double header against Pitt-Greensburg helping her reset the school at bat record.

“It was nice to see us put consistent at-bats together,” said head coach Van Zanic. “We have the potential to have a very good offensive team and today we saw glimpses of it.

“April Lude had a very good day and Haley Sainato continues her great work at the top of the lineup. Hopefully, we are rounding into shape at the right time.”

Casey Farkasovsky (Beaver, PA/Beaver) set the offensive tone for the Golden Tornadoes. Geneva gave up an unearned run at the top of the first in game one. Farkasovsky marked her first homer at Conrady Field in two-run homer fashion.

Lucia Fee’s (Wampum, PA/Mohawk) single RBI in the second inning handed Geneva its third run, ultimately the run needed to edge the Barons. Geneva didn’t settle for the slight lead, finishing the game with 14 hits for the 8-2 decision.

Geneva’s offensive continued to prevail in game two. Fee tallied another game-winning single RBI single in game two at the bottom of the first. As a team, the Golden Tornadoes racked up 16 hits in their 15-0 victory.

Laura Innocenzi (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) is perfect in the field. She has committed no errors as Geneva’s second baseman in the 16 games played.

On Wednesday, March 29 the Golden Tornadoes return to Conrady Field to host the Allegheny College Gators at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
