Naples, Fl. – Geneva Softball, now 3-3 overall, posted its third consecutive split day. The Golden Tornadoes defeated Clark 6-1 (9 a.m.) but dropped a 6-2 decision to Eastern Nazarene (11 a.m.); keeping the .500 record.

“We didn’t take advantage of several opportunities in game two like we did to start the day,” said Head Coach Van Zanic. “It’s frustrating to split three straight days but it gives us something to build on.”

Geneva took an early one run lead in the first against Clark. The Golden Tornadoes added to their advantage with two more in the second, three in the fifth. They surrendered one run in the fourth.

Casey Farkosovsky (Beaver, PA/Beaver) went 3-3 against Clark tallying two RBIs and a run. Among her trio of hits was a homer recording her third of the young season. In the circle, Farkosovsky earned the win after five innings. She allowed only five hits, one run, walked two while striking out four batters. Her work raised her overall pitching record to 2-2.

Hannah Logan (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) also had a strong offensive game going 1-2 at the plate. She recorded an RBI and a run.

In game two, Geneva was tabbed the away team. Geneva started off the game with a run in the first and added another in the fifth but it wasn’t enough to answer Eastern Nazarene. The home team recorded a run in the first, second, third, two in the fourth and added one more in the fifth. Bobbie Ann (Lisbon, OH/Beaver Local) ended up on the wrong side on the decision, taking the loss, which moved her record to 1-1.

Haley Sainato (New Castle, PA/Mohawk) drove two hits and scored a run. Lucia Fee (Wampum, PA/Mohawk) went 2-3 at the plate against Eastern Nazarene.

After six games, three straight days of softball, the Golden Tornadoes will take Thursday, March 9 off from play. They will return on Friday, March 10 at the CenturyLink Sports Complex in Fort Myers. Geneva is scheduled to face Mount Mary University at 9 a.m. followed by an 1 p.m. game against Salem State University.
