(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The Geneva College student Handbell Choir will perform its annual spring concert on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Johnston Gym. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend the performance.

The Handbell Choir, under the direction of Betsy Hall, usually performs in John White Chapel of Old Main. Due to the large number of ringers participating this year, the concert will take place in Johnston Gym.

According to senior ringer Peter LeBlanc, this semester is unique because there are so many ringers. He recalls semesters where he’s played entire octaves of bells. That’s certainly not the case now. “We barely have any notes that aren’t being rung by two different people,” says LeBlanc.

The 22-member Handbell Choir includes a wide range of students – from freshman ringing for the first time to a few dedicated seniors who have performed for all eight semesters.

In this year’s repertoire, director Betsy Hall includes several old favorites for the choir to play. Among the new pieces to be played is one chosen by eight-semester ringer, Garrett Stevens.

“It has been a blast so far to rehearse and I cannot wait for people to see and hear it,” says LeBlanc. His enthusiasm reflects the attitudes of his fellow ringers toward their April 29 concert.
