(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College announces it will host internationally renowned Reformed Christian speaker and author Dr. Sinclair B. Ferguson for an on-campus “Tea & Scones” speaking event on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 9 a.m. in the Benedum Room, Alexander Hall. The event is free, but seating is limited so registration is required at geneva.edu/TeaAndScones.
Ferguson is the scheduled commencement speaker for Geneva’s traditional undergraduate graduation ceremony the following day, Saturday, May 6. The commencement ceremony, including the Ferguson’s speech, will be streamed live on Geneva’s website. Information about commencement is available at geneva.edu/commencement.
Born and raised in Scotland, Ferguson is an ordained minister in The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He has served as Charles Krahe Professor of Systematic Theology in Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, and also in Redeemer Seminary, Dallas.
In addition he has been minister of three congregations—on the Island of Unst (the most northerly inhabited island in the United Kingdom), in the center of Glasgow (the largest city in Scotland) and in the historic First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC.
Ferguson holds the Ph.D. degree from the University of Aberdeen, and in 2001 was named in The Herald list of Scotland’s Fifty Brightest Lights nominated by hundreds of the leading figures in Scotland.
He has authored over 40 books ranging in scope from works for children to studies for the academy, contributed to some fifty others and published more than 100 articles.
He currently serves as a Teaching Fellow with Ligonier Ministries, as Chairman of the Board of the Banner of Truth Trust Publishers and as the evening preacher in St Peter’s Free Church, Dundee, Scotland. Ferguson and his wife Dorothy are blessed with four children and eleven grandchildren.
