The Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets stung Geneva 9-2, 7-3 on Friday’s (April 14) Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader. The pair of losses lowers the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 8-20, 2-12 in the PAC.
Waynesburg opened up the day with a pair of runs in the first. Geneva was able to match the Yellow Jackets’ runs in the bottom of the opening inning but the Golden Tornadoes wouldn’t be able to keep up with the visitor’s nine total runs. Geneva posted seven runs in game one but couldn’t convert them beyond two runs. The only RBI came off Forrest Beighley’s stick. Caleb Metzler was forced to take the loss on the mound. Metzler worked five innings surrendering six hits, five runs, walking one and striking out one.
Game two started off very familiar. Waynesburg scored two runs this time in the top of the third. Again, Geneva matched Waynesburg pair of runs in the bottom of the same inning. The Yellow Jackets stayed hot posting three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth; 9-2. Geneva would visit home plate again until the bottom of the seventh despite its nine hit performance.
Tyler Pagaduan opened the bottom of the ninth inning with a triple, placing one deep into center field. Pagaduan wheels kept spinning as his sliding dive home off a wild pitch to tally Geneva’s third run. Pagaduan closed game two going 3-4 at the plate, 5-8 (.625) on the day. Josh Grant took the loss after 3.2 innings of work allowing six hits, five runs, walking two and striking out one.
