Geneva Drops Twinbill; 9-3, 5-1

Forrest Beighley

Beaver Falls, Pa. – Geneva baseball dropped the twinbill on Tuesday, April 18 to all-time rival Westminster; 9-3, 5-1. The pair of losses lowers the Golden Tornadoes’ overall record to 8-22, 2-14 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Geneva started with back-to-back singles to open the play against Westminster. Joey Luciana batted in Vinny Howells followed by Forrest Beighley RBI to bring home Tyler Pagaduan for the 2-0 Geneva lead after the first inning.

Geneva’s lead didn’t last long. The Titans rallied a five-run third inning not only equalizing the game but taking the lead. Westminster continued to post runs shutting Geneva out of any comeback momentum.

The Golden Tornadoes took the early lead again in game two of Jacob Yarnell’s bat. Yarnell tripled to right field to bring home Jacob Poremski; 1-0. The classic rival game didn’t let the scoreboard rest as the Titans leveled the scoreboard in the second inning; 1-1.

Westminster demanded the lead change in fourth posting two runs off four hits; 3-1. Geneva was unable to answer the Titans, meanwhile, the visitors added a run in the sixth and seventh.

Geneva will return to action on Friday, April 21 hosting the Washington & Jefferson College Presidents in a single nine-inning game. The Golden Tornadoes will begin the contest at 4:30 p.m.
