School Records Shattered at Home Invitational; Men place Second at Geneva Invitational

Cam Unrath

Beaver Falls, Pa. – Two Geneva College Men’s outdoor track records were broken at the 2017 Geneva College Invitational on Wednesday, April 12. Cameron Unrath reset the 100 meter dash record to 10.842 seconds. Unrath tallied a second record-breaking performance with his 4x100 relay squad. Henry Kennedy, Unrath, Aaron Tedys and Alex Parker reset the 4x100 meter relay record to 41.85 seconds. As a team, the Golden Tornadoes placed second.

“We had some great throws, great jumps, fast times on the track,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “Cam breaking the school record in the 100 is a highlight at 10.85. That’s a huge personal record. His best before that was 10.92 seconds. The one, two, three in the 110 hurdles and that 4x100 is not only a school record but puts them eighth nationally right now. So, that is just a good day.

“Henry Kennedy, at his first day at javelin, has our top throw at 44.4 meters,” continued Thompson. “It was a good day.”

Geneva claimed the top three finishes in the men’s 110 high meter hurdles. Alex Parker took first place (15.02) followed by Dalton Paxson (15.42) with Michael Savino taking third (15.85). Savino captured another third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (1:00.38). Parker tabbed a third-place performance in the men’s high jump with a 1.75 meter leap (5’8”).

In the 800 meter run, Andrew Domenic posted a second place finish with his time of 2:01.55.

Micah Daigneault placed third in 1500 meter run with a time of 4:11.03.

In the field, Isaac Barringer topped all performances in the men’s discus throw. Barringer’s first place finish showcased a 38.43 meter throw (126’01”). Colton Trammel’s outstanding 12.77 meter (41’10”) shot put toss tabbed a first place finish.

Jesse Garcia took third in the men’s long jump with a 5.97 meter final distance (19’07”).

The Golden Tornadoes will compete in one more meet before hosting the 2017 Presidents’ Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. On Saturday, April 22 Geneva will travel to Penn State Behrend to compete in the Behrend Invitational starting at 11 a.m.
