(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – New Song, Geneva College psalm-singing choral ensemble, begins its 41st annual summer tour of music ministry on July 2 at College Hill Reformed Presbyterian Church in Beaver Falls, PA. The tour takes the nine-member a cappella group across the Midwest, Northeast and into parts of Canada to proclaim the Gospel through music and drama. After stops in eight states and two countries, the tour concludes August 5-7 in White Lake, NY.

In its 40-year history, New Song has travelled throughout the United States and Canada, as well as travelling to China on two occasions. They have also released a number of albums of their inspired music.

Each year, New Song takes on new students, chosen based on their talents in music and drama, as well as their ability to articulate their faith. Under the direction of Lindsay Shaffer, a 2011 Geneva College alumna who is directing her third tour, New Song performs several new pieces of music, along with a variety of a cappella psalms, accompanied and unaccompanied hymns and contemporary Christian music. Students also perform drama in the middle of the program to the delight of audiences and to the glory of God.

“It is difficult for the students to learn 40-plus pieces of music and perform almost every single day for a month (sometimes twice in one day),” says Shaffer, “but watching them minister to people around the country is so rewarding.”

Beyond the rigorous musical training provided for New Song members, the tour presents a wonderful opportunity for students to share their faith with others and glorify God with their talents.

“I love to see each of them grow in their faith and service to the Lord each year,” says Shaffer. “Of course, it's also lots of fun to travel the country and experience different cities and regions with the students.”
