Noted Writer Lisa Sharon Harper to Keynote Convergence 2017

Geneva College's Center for Student Engagement - Diversity & Inclusion and the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) will host Convergence: Unity in Diversity, a one-day symposium on November 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Skye Lounge, Geneva College Student Center in Beaver Falls, Pa.

Attendees of Convergence: Unity in Diversity will examine systemic issues that are foundational to racial injustices crippling our world and explore restoration through a biblical perspective. The theme for Convergence 2017 is Everything in Its Right Place: Race, Politics, and Shalom.

Lisa Sharon HarperThe symposium features speaker, activist and author Lisa Sharon Harper, best known for her well-received books such as The Very Good Gospel: How Everything Wrong can be Made Right (Waterbrook / Multnomah). The Huffington Post recognized Harper as one of “50 Powerful Women Religious Leaders to Celebrate on International Women’s Day.” Most recently, Relevant Magazine recognized The Very Good Gospel among “Six Books that Will Change the Way You See the World” and Harper as one of “Seven Leaders to Follow in 2017.”

Online registration for the event is available at www.geneva.edu/cse/convergence/. In-person pre-registration is also available at the Geneva College Student Center. The cost is $10 for college students and $20 for general admission. Lunch will be provided for pre-registered attendees. CCO staff, Geneva students, faculty and staff can attend for free if they register with a CCO email address or Geneva email address. Pre-registration ends on Wednesday, November 9.
