Monaca, PA – This fall, the Geneva College Board of Trustees approved a new program for nursing in cooperation with the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC). On Wednesday, the two institutions made their partnership official with a signing ceremony at CCBC’s Center Township campus.

The BSN degree is a great fit with Geneva’s Christian mission. Together with our colleagues at CCBC, we’ll work to provide a new generation of excellent nursing education and care here in the Beaver Valley.”
The Nursing program at Geneva will soon begin accepting applications for admission with a targeted start of classes in fall 2018. In cooperation with CCBC, this four-year program will empower students to earn the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from CCBC and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Geneva. Students who complete the ADN requirements at CCBC are eligible to sit for the national licensure exam (NCLEX-RN) to become registered nurses.
"By signing today’s articulation agreement, our two institutions are joining forces to offer a strong bachelor degree career pathway for aspiring nurses right here in Beaver County,” said CCBC President Chris Reber. “CCBC’s School of Nursing and Allied Health has a long-standing history of quality nursing education, and we are proud to partner with Geneva College to offer our Associate Degree in Nursing to a broader array of students also pursuing a Geneva bachelor degree. Students enrolled in our partnership program will earn both credentials at a significantly lower cost than most private college programs can offer.”
CCBC’s Practical Nursing program has been named the top nursing program in Pennsylvania by practicalnursing.org, and CCBC Associate Professor Sally Fitzgerald has been named Practical Nursing Educator of the Year by the Pennsylvania Practical Nursing Administrators (PAPNA).
The College also boasts 100% pass rates on both the Practical Nursing and Phlebotomy licensure exams. The NCLEX pass rate for students enrolled in CCBC’s Associate Degree in Nursing program was 96%, placing CCBC’s program among the top nursing programs in the nation.
Geneva College’s new Nursing program is a 1-2-1 program, meaning students spend their first and fourth years at Geneva earning credits toward the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. During the majority of their second and third years, students will participate in nursing labs and clinical experiences at CCBC accumulating credits for CCBC’s Associate Degree in Nursing.
Students may live on the Geneva College campus all four years of the program, and they will make all payments for the nursing program through Geneva’s Financial Aid Office.
Both Geneva and CCBC are committed to making nursing education affordable for students of all socioeconomic backgrounds. As a result, nursing students will pay a lower tuition price than standard Geneva traditional undergraduate tuition. Along with reduced tuition, nursing program candidates will be considered for all financial aid available to undergraduate Geneva students, including federal and state financial aid and Geneva scholarships and grants. CCBC will also continue to honor their Presidential Scholarship for applicants who are graduates of a Beaver County high school and meet its requirements.
The ADN and BSN nursing degree program requires completion of 126 credits. Of these credits, 38 are earned in general education, 66 are nursing credits, and 22 are supporting credits. Students will earn 70 credits at Geneva and 56 credits at CCBC.
Applicants must have successfully completed one year of high school biology, one year of high school chemistry, and two years of mathematics (one of which must be algebra) with grades of C or better within the past 10 years. An entrance exam (HESI) is required to begin the coursework in the second year of the program.
