(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.)— Geneva College mourns Associate Professor of Business Robert J. Reith who died on Saturday, February 24, 2018.

Reith taught business and business law classes in Geneva’s MBA and undergraduate programs for 10 years. Prior to joining the Geneva faculty as the lead for the Management and Entrepreneurship concentration, he worked for over 30 years within industry and government in a variety of capacities for organizations like USX, Westinghouse, Fiserv and Allegheny County.

Reith was a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He practiced law in areas that include real property law, estate administration, contracts, landlord/tenant disputes and municipal law. He earned his B.A. from Grove City College, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and his law degree from Duquesne University.

Business Department Chair Dr. Denise Murphy-Gerber says, “Bob had such a kind and humble spirit. He was quiet but strong and capable of holding to his values, a witness to his colleagues and students of what a Christian lawyer should be. He had a formative influence on many of his students; one in particular recalls how Professor Reith’s encouragement when she first returned to school for her MBA helped her overcome self-doubt and realize she was doing exactly what she needed to do. Bob also had a remarkable sense of humor.  I will miss his quiet strength and his wonderful smile in the halls of Northwood.”

Reith is survived by his wife Celestia; four adult children and their spouses, Andrew (Christine), Mark (Ashley), Peter (Caroline) Reith and Megan (Davide) Padovani; and three grandchildren, Emalyn, Olivia and Henry.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 3 p.m. in Southminster Presbyterian Church, Mt. Lebanon, PA. The Schepner – McDermott Funeral Home of Crafton (412) 921-3661 is handling arrangements.
