(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The tenth annual Beaver Falls Community Crime Watch Day will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. on the pedestrian walkway at Geneva College. The event features free educational demonstrations from law enforcement and other emergency response teams, as well as food, games and entertainment for the whole family.

A parade of community leaders and service vehicles kicks off Crime Watch Day starting at 5:30 p.m. and tracking from Tiger Alley and Seventh in Beaver Falls up to Geneva’s campus, where festivities get underway at 6 p.m.

This fun, non-profit event is a community effort led by the Beaver Falls Police Department, Beaver Falls Fire Department and the City of Beaver Falls, and is supported by Geneva and other local organizations and businesses. Citizens and law enforcement officials can come together to heighten community safety awareness and educate local families on the resources available to them. People who attend will get an in-depth look at the tools and techniques employed by officers to keep them safe.

Attendees can explore military vehicles, fire trucks and rescue vehicles, and will have the opportunity to meet local and state police officers, local firemen, city council members, members of the District Attorney’s Office, military recruitment officers and the Allegheny County Bomb Squad.

Other services include child ID kits and Neighborhood Watch content. Community service organizations will hand out information about various services, such as women’s services. Beaver Falls Police will demonstrate bicycle safety and give away a limited number of helmets. Pittsburgh Penguins' mascot Iceburgh will also make an appearance.

Crime Watch Day Event Chair Regina Jones highlights its importance, “We love to show the unity of our community on Crime Watch Day as law enforcement connects with the residents they serve and protect. A variety of agencies educate residents about the many services available to them, many vendors engage with their customers, and the children have a wonderful day,” she says.

The event is free to the public. Young and old will enjoy carnival games, music from the Beaver Falls High School Marching Band and a Local DJ. Magician Vince Charming will perform, pizza and beverages will be for sale, and Geneva College will host tours of the campus. WBVP radio will broadcast the event live.

The day will conclude with a dazzling display of colorful fireworks beginning at 9 p.m.
