(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – In conjunction with a new class in Phonics and Spelling Methods, education majors tutored 18 kindergarten children in early reading at Central Elementary School in Beaver Falls in the spring semester 2018.

The students who take this elective class will earn a Minor in Reading Methods, and will be even more prepared to handle the difficulties incurred with beginning reading.  They profited much by the combination of class, field experience, and supervision by Drs. Aiken, Belcastro, and Heisey.  The kindergartners were excited every week to stay after school for a snack and the one-on-one attention from a Geneva student. This is a program we hope to continue.
