(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – New Song, a Geneva College student musical ministry group, will perform during the second annual Getty Music Worship Conference-Sing! in Nashville, TN, September 10-12, 2018. The nine-singer a cappella team takes the exhibitor hall stage at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, and will sing Psalms at the Crown & Covenant Publishing booth #339, 341 throughout the conference.

Modern hymn writers Keith and Kristyn Getty, widely known for compositions such as “In Christ Alone” and “The Lord is My Salvation,” founded the Sing! Conference in 2017 to teach, build and witness in the area of music ministry. The 2018 Conference, which is expected to draw over 7,500 attendees, is devoted to congregational singing of the Psalms, a Geneva College tradition for more than 170 years.

Keith Getty says, “This year, we will focus on ways the Psalms give us an authentic and big picture view of the Bible. The Psalms help illustrate the importance of God’s people singing and help us have a better understanding of our faith.”

New Song conveys the timeless words of the gospel in a contemporary and dynamic way through music and drama.  For 41 years, New Song has traveled widely across the United States and Canada and has traveled twice to mainland China. Nine students are chosen to join the group annually. New Song Director Lindsay Shaffer leads the performances at the Sing! Conference by members Daneen Krygsheld of Lansing, IL; Josh Ng of Klang, Malaysia; Annie Dawson of Abingdon, VA; Ariadne Lewis of Belvidere, NJ; Emily Shuttleworth of Brockway, PA; Matthew Munford of Liberty, PA; Jordan Kiesewetter of Altoona, PA; Levi Green of New Castle, PA; and Rachael Piscatello of Elizabethtown, KY.

As a sponsor of the Sing! Conference, Geneva College provided a booklet to all attendees with content highlighting the Psalms as Christian Worship and Geneva’s heritage of psalm-singing from its traditional roots in the Reformed Presbyterian Church to its contemporary contribution through student choirs, New Song and The Genevans.
