(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The Geneva College Career Fair welcomes over 60 organizations to campus to engage with Geneva students headed for the workforce. The annual event, coordinated by Geneva’s Career Development Center, presents a real-world experience for students and an opportunity for employers in a variety of fields to recruit their newest employees.

Cara Fulton, Director of Geneva’s Career Development Center, explains, “The fair is an opportunity for students to get full-time, part-time or summer employment. And employers can see our wonderful students and get to meet them.”

This year’s Career Fair has attracted dozens of employers looking for students in an economy with one of the lowest unemployment rates in decades.

Dean of Student Engagement, Jamie Swank, J.D., says, “We have the most employers in years here today – over 60. Students are taking advantage of the time to present themselves professionally. It’s wonderful to see.”

Along with inviting organizations looking for workers to campus, the college also offers professional headshot photography to help students begin to market themselves in their post-undergraduate future. Students appreciate this service and the value of the career fair, a chance to meet representatives of companies for which they want to work or to meet new organizations of which they were unaware.

Senior Greg Meilander says, “It’s really nice to have this fair on campus. I know there are many companies here looking to hire graduates in my major, Mechanical Engineering, and that’s pretty cool.”

Employers, graduate schools and other organizations are eager to engage with Geneva students to consider possible future scenarios.

Hope Lucas, Assistant Director of Pittsburgh Fellows, remarks, “We come to every one of these career fairs at Geneva College for the high quality and caliber of students. The work ethic and moral compass of these students stands out, and the Geneva students we have worked with have been exceptional servant-leaders. In fact, we have five Geneva students already for next year.”

The Geneva College Career Fair runs until 2 p.m. on March 1 in the Metheny Fieldhouse on the Beaver Falls campus.
