(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College announces a new Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Mathematics, a program to prepare students for the fast-growing, well-paying profession of Actuary and a wide-range of other possible career paths. Actuary is considered a top-ranked job by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, combining a good salary and job security with high growth projections.

Actuarial Mathematics students will receive a solid foundation in the mathematical and business aspects of assessing risk and conducting risk analysis in finance, insurance and investments. With these skills, students graduating with actuarial degrees enhance financial security in society, providing stability to their communities. Geneva’s distinctive core curriculum reinforces an ethical framework from a Christian perspective which is vitally important to professionals in actuarial fields.

Chair of Geneva’s Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics Department, John Stahl, PhD, says, “The new bachelor’s program grows out of our actuarial science minor and adds a stronger math focus, along with business, economics and computer science courses. Our students will be well prepared for preliminary actuarial certification tests that can lead to careers in risk analysis and assessment in government, private industry and in other areas where God calls them.”

Geneva is currently accepting students for the Actuarial Mathematics major beginning in fall 2019. An application for admission is required and is available at geneva.edu/applyundergrad.
