(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College announces a new financial aid opportunity for incoming first-year students as a way to make quality Christian higher education more affordable to people in neighboring counties. The Good Neighbor Grant provides $2,000 a year, renewable annually for up to eight undergraduate semesters, to new, first-year students from 18 counties in Western Pennsylvania. The scholarship is available automatically to these residents when they enroll at Geneva College for the fall 2020-21 academic year.

This new scholarship is stackable with other scholarships, up to the cap for Geneva grants and scholarships -- $20,000 for resident students and $18,000 for commuter students.

Dr. Anthony Turner, Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing, says, “The Good Neighbor Grant for first-year students helps us offer quality Christian, private college education to students who can later benefit organizations, communities and families right here in Western Pennsylvania and beyond. This new financial aid opportunity is a natural next step to enhance the impact of our ministry of education.”

Students entering in the fall of 2020 from the following 18 counties in Western Pennsylvania are eligible for the Good Neighbor Grant: Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington and Westmoreland.

The Good Neighbor Grant applies to all students who meet the eligibility requirements, even if they have already accepted an earlier financial aid award from Geneva College. By the end of January, the Student Financial Services Office will email impacted students to confirm that the good Neighbor Grant has been added to their award. Students and families with questions may contact their Geneva College admissions counselor at 800-847-8255 or admissions@geneva.edu. Additional information is available at Geneva.edu/grants_scholarships.

Geneva provides over $15.6 million a year to help make college affordable for students. Scholarships and grants from the college are available based on a variety of characteristics, from location of residence (such as the Beaver County Grant, and the Neighboring States Grant for students from Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and West Virginia) to Homeschool Grants and religious Denominational Grants.

Geneva College is a Christ-centered academic community that provides a comprehensive education to equip students for faithful and fruitful service to God and neighbor. Offering over 145 traditional undergraduate majors and programs, fully online Adult Degree Programs and high-demand graduate degrees, Geneva’s programs are recognized for their high quality.
