(BEAVER FALLS, Pa) — The Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) Nursing Program was ranked #5 for associate degrees in Nursing in the Northeast Region of the United States this week, according to NursingProcess.org. In cooperation with CCBC, Geneva’s four-year Nursing program empowers students to earn the associate degree in nursing (ADN) from CCBC along with the bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from Geneva. The program enables students to sit for the national licensure exam (NCLEX-RN).
In order to rank the associate nursing programs, NursingProcess.org examined over 2700 schools across the nation on four factors; academic quality, NCLEX-RN pass rates, the nursing school’s reputation and affordability. Each of these four factors was equally weighted in the final determination; 25% for each factor.
About Geneva College and CCBC’s Nursing Program
The Geneva College Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) program holds pre-accreditation status from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation, located at 2600 Virginia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20037. Holding pre-accreditation status does not guarantee that initial accreditation by NLN CNEA will be received.
Geneva’s Nursing program is a 1-2-1 program; that means students spend their first and fourth years at Geneva earning credits toward the bachelor’s degree in Nursing. The majority of their second and third years, students will be enrolled in nursing clinicals at the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC), accumulating credits for the Associate in Nursing Degree. Students may live on the Geneva campus all four years of the program, and they will make all payments for the nursing program in PA through Geneva College.
Geneva is committed to making nursing education affordable for students of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Therefore, there is a reduced tuition for Nursing students.
Employment prospects for nurses are strong. Positions for registered nurses are anticipated to increase by a much faster than average 12% by 2028, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Registered nurses have many opportunities in the medical field. RNs with a BSN have even more opportunities for positions, positions of growing authority and higher pay. Research collected by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) provides evidence that nurses with a BSN have better patient outcomes.
The BLS reports that May 2018 median pay for registered nurses was $71,730 per year and that the typical entry-level education required is a bachelor's degree.
