Events not held at publicized times due to concerns about the spread of coronavirus

(BEAVER FALLS, Pa) — Geneva College announces that four on-campus events scheduled in the next few weeks will not be held as scheduled due to concerns about the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). The events affected are:

  • Guest Artist & Visiting Lecture Series (GVALS) J.G. Vos Lecture Series – Speaker Dr. Scott R. Swain, March 18
  • Byron I. Bitar Memorial Lecture – Speakers Dr. Keith Martel, Dr. Kyle David Bennett, Dr. John Buchmann and Dr. Jennifer Kiefer Fenton, March 25-26
  • STEAM Night, March 26
  • The Genevans Spring Concerts, March 30-31

It is unknown at this time whether these events will be rescheduled at alternate times or cancelled. An additional speaker event, GVALS Holocaust Survivor Albert Münzer previously scheduled for April 1, was cancelled by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum earlier this month.

Geneva president Calvin L. Troup, PhD, announced earlier this week an extension of spring break of two days and a transition of most classes from face-to-face to online instruction through Mar. 30. Troup says, “Our primary concern in this moment is the safety of our students, faculty and staff, as well as our larger community."
