(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College announces the 2020 Faculty Awards recipients. A faculty member was presented with the awards recognizing accomplishments in each of these categories: The Outstanding Service Award, The Excellence in Part-Time Teaching Award, The Excellence in Scholarship award and the Excellence in Teaching Award. A selection committee composed of students and fellow faculty members determines award winners after a nomination and evaluation process.

The Outstanding Service Award was presented to Dr. Mildred L. Johnson, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice. The Outstanding Service Award is presented annually to an instructor who exhibits identifiable service activities for the campus or broader community and the positive impact of the service events, either internally or externally. The faculty selected Dr. Johnson for this award on behalf of the incredible work that she does in the community.

The Excellence in Scholarship Award was presented to Dr. Keith Martel, Professor of Higher Education and Director of Geneva’s master’s in Higher Education Program. The criteria for this award include breadth and depth of knowledge in the discipline in a way which significantly enhances the intellectual climate of the college; contribution to the advancement of their field and recognition beyond the Geneva campus; and stimulation and direction of scholarly activity among students. This award was given to Dr. Martel on behalf of his outstanding intellectual contributions to the college, recognition of advancement outside of the college, as well as significant student involvement.

The Excellence in Part-Time Teaching Award was presented to Dr. Andrea Korcan-Buzza. This award was given to Dr. Korcan-Buzza on behalf of her excellent part-time teaching ability and leadership, creativity in teaching, course and program development, and enhancement of the educational climate and opportunities.

The Excellence in Teaching Award was presented to Dr. Doug Bradbury, Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies. The criteria for this award include classroom teaching ability, educational leadership, creativity and teaching methodology, course and program development and enhancement of the educational climate and opportunities at Geneva. Dr. Bradbury is recognized for his prevalent desire to see his students succeed in and out of the classroom and his outstanding work as a professor at Geneva College.

Geneva College announces the recipients for the 2020 Faculty Awards in recognition of each professors’ personal achievements as well as their outstanding dedication to the College’s Christ-centered mission.
