(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College President, Calvin L. Troup, PhD, is a featured speaker in the Breakpoint short course, “How Four Christians from History Confronted Cultural Chaos: Augustine, Solzhenitsyn, O’Conner and MLK,” a four-week webinar from the Colson Center beginning Oct. 20, 2020.
Dr. Troup’s scholarly interest is the rhetoric and philosophy of St. Augustine, and the rhetoric of technology. His books include “Temporality, Eternity, and Wisdom: The Rhetoric of Augustine’s Confessions” (Univ. of South Carolina Press, 1999) and “Augustine for the Philosophers: The Rhetor of Hippo, the Confessions” (Baylor University Press, 2014). He is the featured speaker in the short course’s session on Augustine and the City of God.
According to the Colson Center, the short course presents the lives of four major Christians who were prominent voices of justice, love and the story of restoration in their time. With their leadership, passion, creativity, and obedience, each of these individuals joined God in the work of restoring all things. Attendees will learn from these models how to join in the work of restoration using your own unique voice, platform and giftings.
Described as “great for individuals, families, small groups or even whole churches,” the webinars can be viewed live from 8-9:30 p.m. each Tuesday evening or watched at convenience.
