(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – A total of 43 students who enrolled at Geneva College for the fall of 2020 came as a result of the school’s Gold & White Referral Program. Each student referred by an alumni member through the program received a Gold & White Grant for $4,000 over four years toward their tuition.

Geneva College President, Calvin L. Troup, PhD, announces a new Gold & White Challenge to encourage even more alumni referrals. He set the goal of 50 Gold & White referred students to apply to Geneva by Jan. 1, 2021. The college will closely track the progress of Gold & White referrals as well as applications from the referred students during the Challenge, and report results regularly on the web page, geneva.edu/goldandwhite.

Alumni who refer students give a potential gift of $4,000 over for four years to referred students, as well as the knowledge that that they’ve pointed them to a Christ-honoring, academically excellent education at Geneva College.

For each student enrollee, alumni referrers will receive an ESV Bible embossed with the Geneva College seal, suitable for family or personal use or gift giving. All incoming students receive the same type of embossed Bible when they arrive at Geneva – and the Gold & White referring alumni will receive their Bible when the student recipients receive theirs.

Geneva alumnus Rev. Bruce Backensto, '69 of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls, PA referred three students who came to Geneva in the fall of 2020. He says, “I received an outstanding education as a Math major with a Bible/Philosophy minor at Geneva. More importantly, I became a Christian during my sophomore year, hence the minor. What a privilege to be able to tell prospective students how much the education I gained at Geneva prepared me for a life of service and essentially give them a gift of a $4,000 grant through the Gold and White Program. How rewarding it is when students accept the offer and enroll in Geneva College. I encourage other alumni to consider who you may be able to help by offering the Gold and White Program."
