(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The Geneva College Theater Program announces two productions for the 2021 spring season. The Theater Program begins with a radio-play presentation of “Alice in Wonderland,” adapted and directed by Geneva Theater Program director, Mindy Williams, with performances at 7:30 p.m. on February 25-27. Following at 7:30 p.m. on March 11-13 will be “Treasure Island,” adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel by student actor Laura Miller and directed by Williams.

The last show of the season will be the annual “Student Directed One Acts,” an evening of one act plays directed and performed by Geneva College students. Williams will oversee the student directed production on dates and times to be released soon.

The adventures explored in each of these pieces give us an opportunity to reflect on human curiosity and wonder, as well as the dangers that come when we enter new territory. They push us to imagine new ways of doing things and encourage the creative process that equips us to overcome challenges that face us with a dash of whimsy and swashbuckling courage by turning the world on its head and reminding us that things are not always what they appear to be. Geneva College students will grow their talents in vocal acting as they navigate the nuances of a show that captivates the imagination primarily through the art of sound. The Geneva College Theater Program is excited to bring joy to our audiences this spring as we delve into these stories of adventure in far off lands.

Williams is excited to push the boundaries of the radio play genre in the upcoming season, remarking, “Geneva students will have so many chances to grow as actors and people as we navigate the challenges brought by pursuing theater during a pandemic. We have a lot of amazing students, and I think they are up to the task of making amazing shows that will bring these classic stories into the homes of the audience.”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no in-house admission. However, the shows will be live-streamed and available for viewing at no cost.
