Geneva College to Memorialize President Emeritus John H. (Jack) White

(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College announces a memorial service for beloved President Emeritus, John H. “Jack” White, DMin, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Metheny Fieldhouse on its campus in Beaver Falls, PA.

Registration is required for in-person attendance. Following the mandates of the commonwealth, COVID-19 protocols regarding masking and space limitations will be followed. Dr. White, who passed away on March 11, 2021, faithfully served the college as its 18th President, 1992-2004, and as Dean of Religious Services and a professor of Biblical Studies beginning in 1970. He served on the Geneva College Board of Corporators, 1964-1970, and Board of Trustees, 1967-1970. Dr. White was nationally known for his involvement in numerous evangelical Christian organizations throughout his life.

Dr. Peter Lillback, President of Westminster Theological Seminary, will provide the memorial message. Dr. Brad Frey ’73, Professor of Sociology and Higher Education, will speak on behalf of Geneva faculty, The Rev. Dr. William Glaze, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, will speak for the Pittsburgh community, and Geneva alumnus Dr. Richard Morris ’97, MSOL ’99 will give a eulogy. Dr. Dean Smith ‘65, Emeritus Professor of Bible, will preside over the ceremony. President of Geneva College Dr. Calvin L. Troup will provide a welcome and remarks on behalf of the college, while Dr. Jonathan Watt, Chair of the Department of Biblical Studies and Dr. White’s pastor, will share scripture readings. Geneva’s touring choir, New Song, which Dr. White founded when he was President of Geneva, will sing a favorite Psalm and hymns of the faith.
