(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Dr. Steve Bouma-Prediger, Leonard and Marjorie Mass Professor of Reformed Theology at Hope College in Holland, Mich., presents lectures in Geneva College’s John White Chapel at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4 and at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, part of Geneva’s Visiting Artists and Lecturers series. 

Dr. Bouma-Prediger's Thursday lecture is entitled “What Kind of Person Would Do Something Like That? A Christian Ecological Virtue Ethic.” His Friday talk is “Education for Homelessness or Homemaking? The Christian College in a Postmodern Culture.”

Dr. Bouma-Prediger has received many teaching awards throughout his career. A Hope College graduate, he was selected by the Hope class of 1998 to give the Commencement Address, was voted in 1999 the recipient of the Hope Outstanding Professor-Educator Award, and was asked by Hope’s chapter of Mortar Board in 2009 to give a “Last Lecture.” He also gave the Baccalaureate address for the Hope class of 2019.

He holds graduate degrees in philosophy from the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto, Ontario, in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., and earned a Ph.D. in religious studies from the University of Chicago.
