(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College Professor of Biblical Studies and Coordinator of the Bible core curriculum, Scott Shidemantle, PhD, was elected in June 2021 to serve a four-year term on the Board of Trustees of Covenant Theological Seminary (CTS).

Dr. Shidemantle says, “I am humbled to have been elected to serve the broader church in this way. The local church is where the rubber meets the road, but the seminary is where future pastors are trained for local church ministry. We live in challenging times in our culture. The church deeply needs grace-saturated pastors, grounded in the Scriptures, some equipped to plant new churches and others to lead existing churches but both in the direction of faithfulness to Jesus. I look forward to playing a small role in this work.”

CTS is the denominational seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America, which is the largest of the biblically conservative presbyterian denominations in NAPARC (North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council). Shidemantle is a ruling elder in the Chapel Presbyterian Church in Brighton Township, Beaver County.

In his trustee role, Dr. Shidemantle will travel to CTS board meetings in St. Louis, MO. three times annually and serve on a board standing committee that meets occasionally throughout the year.
