(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – Geneva College hosts the STEM Symposium for Undergraduate Research from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, on the Beaver Falls campus in Old Main.
The Geneva Education Department invites students from other universities to participate with Geneva’s Noyce Grant recipients by submitting a poster of their research. More information is available by contacting (724) 847-6535 or sxfiggin@geneva.edu.
Geneva Professor of Chemistry John Stahl, PhD, will speak on “Lessons Learned in Research: Observations from Conducting Chemistry Research for over 40 Years” in John White Chapel, Old Main, to begin the symposium.
Event organizer Adel Aiken, EdD, Geneva Education Professor, says, “We recognize that undergraduates doing STEM research aids in the retention of STEM Education Majors. This event stimulates the continued advancement of STEM research and, in partnership with the National Science Foundation’s Noyce Grant, also supports a new generation of STEM teachers.”
Geneva’s Education Department in conjunction with the Sciences and Math Departments was awarded a five-year Noyce Grant of $1 million from the National Science Foundation in 2020. This grant supports the creation of an enhanced program to prepare STEM teachers to be highly qualified to teach biology, chemistry, math, and physics in high-need science and math classrooms.
