The Geneva College Center for Faith & Life announces its inaugural conference Christian Perspectives on Technology and Personhood on February 11-13, 2027.
This Christian Perspectives Conference invites attendees to reflect on advancements in modern technology as it relates to personhood, focusing on three primary topics: artificial intelligence (AI), in-vitro fertilization (IVF), and social media.
“Each of these technologies is deeply impacting our society, and that impact will likely become more significant in the future,” says Jim Spiegel, executive director of the Center for Faith & Life. “So how should we as Christians think about these issues? What biblical insights about what it means to be a person can give us wisdom here?”
Three keynote speakers will be featured: Derek Schuurman (PhD, McMaster University), professor and chair of computer science at Calvin University; Scott Rae (PhD, University of Southern California), dean of faculty and professor of philosophy and Christian ethics at the Biola University Talbot School of Theology, and Felicia Wu Song (PhD, University of Virginia), cultural sociologist, writer, and speaker.
Plenary speakers and other presenters will address questions regarding the technology in their focus such as:
