Meet the Staff: Marvin Moreland

Meet the Staff: Marvin Moreland

Who are you and what were you doing before coming to Geneva?

Marlene Wise

My name is Marvin Moreland, and I serve as the coordinator of racial and cultural student programming and services at Geneva College. Before joining Geneva College, I spent nine years working as a mortgage loan closer at PNC Bank where I developed strong skills in organization, communication, and serving people with care and professionalism.

In addition to my work at Geneva, I am blessed to serve as the youth and young adult director at Deliverance Temple Ministries where I mentor, teach, and disciple young people as they grow in their faith and purpose.

What does your role involve?

In my role as the coordinator of the Multicultural Engagement Team, I help lead the development and implementation of programs, initiatives, and outreach efforts that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across Geneva College. My mission is to ensure that every student —   regardless of race, culture, or background — feels seen, respected, and valued during their time here.

A vital part of my work includes advising the Black Student Union, supporting their efforts to build community, provide mentorship, and create meaningful experiences for students of color. Together, we work to strengthen belonging, elevate student voices, and encourage leadership on campus.

What upcoming events or projects are you most excited about?

We are excited to host MLK Night of the Arts 2026, themed “We’ve Got Work to Do: Carrying the Dream Forward,” on January 19, 2026. This year’s celebration will honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through creativity, community, and a shared commitment to justice, unity, and hope.

Our program will feature a rich lineup of musical guests, spoken word artists, and musicians from both the Geneva College community and the greater Beaver County area. Each performance will highlight the diverse gifts within our community while reflecting Dr. King’s vision for equality, reconciliation, and beloved community.

We are especially thrilled to debut a new initiative: the City on a Hill Worship and Praise Team — a dynamic ensemble of singers and musicians made up of Geneva College students and staff. This new worship team represents our desire to elevate Christ-centered unity and to celebrate the many voices and cultures that make our campus vibrant.

What else would you like parents to know?

I want parents to know that I do my very best to make students from all cultures and backgrounds feel at home here at Geneva. One of my goals is that their time on this campus reflects the beautiful diversity of God’s Kingdom described in Revelation 7:9 — every nation, tribe, people, and language worshiping before the Lord.

I also personally support students of color who want a church community that feels familiar. Every Sunday, I reserve a van and drive students who wish to attend church with me to a Bible-believing Pentecostal service where they can worship freely and comfortably.

I care deeply about your children, and I’m committed to helping them grow, feel welcomed, and know that they truly belong.
